Smart Inhaler

Contextual Scenario:.
The pMDls are most popular due to their small size and unobtrusive nature; however, drug delivery is highly dependent on good inhaler technique and many patients find pMDls difficult to use correctly
• Patients are often unable to coordinate actuation of device and their inhalation.
• ·Drug delivery is highly dependent on good inhaler technique.
• ·Some pMDls do not have a dose counter, which makes it difficult to track remaining doses in the device.
• Forgetting to take dose on time
• unable to review their inspiration techniques( no way to know how to improve).

The Inhaler is a breath actuated Inhaler which is an advanced form of traditional pMDI (pressurised metered dose Inhaler). The reason to choose this Inhaler technology is because here the Patients will be able to coordinate actuation of device and their inhalation, since it is activated as soon as the patient start inhaling from the device. This reduces the user errors to a great extent and also ensures dosage is fed correctly.
The sensor which is used to measure the flow rate and gives data on Inhalation or amount of medication dosed with each inhalation, and helps in correcting the technique if needed is a differential pressure sensor designed specifically for the smart devices.
